Labour costs?

Featured Replies

Evening!

I've been quoted £150-£200 to fit my Bilstein/Eibach B12 kit, Polybush ARB bushes and Drop links. Apparently it's about an hour a corner so 4hrs work which works out at £35-£50, is that a good price?

Billy.

Sounds fair to me, as long as it's not a mate doing it on his drive

Regards all

No it's a proper garage that does MOTs and Servicing, I know the guy as I mountain bike with him but he's a fairly new acquaintance!

That sounds about right to me mate. Seemingly the front roll bar bushes are a swine to get at to replace !

I found that about 45pound /hour is normal

Yeah £35hr + vat = £42hr at my local Indy

Sounds pretty fair to me.

call me pedantic but "£150-£200" isn't a quote, more like a rough estimate. Efficient garage would quote a fixed price for such a job, surely?

The £150 quote was for the B12 kit only but then I said 'oh I have arb bushes and drop links also plus I wanted my front lights aligning, so he said £150-£200 depending on how awkward everything is!

Like I said the front ARB bushes are seemingly a nightmare, I maybe wrong but I heard you gotta drop the subframe to get at them. I'm getting mine renewed when my b12 kit goes in. It make sense to do it then

Ye I've heard and researched that the arb's can be a pig of a job, that's why I want to pay someone else for the trouble lol!

Just out of interest. Does anyone know how much the local skoda dealer would charge?

Or is this a silly question? :)

Ask a silly question .., get a silly answer ... About £70 an hour before vat ! Maybe more but not much less ! Double what most decent indys charge.

Morning

I was quoted £670 to replace a cam belt and water pump on a Skoda Octavia 1.6 tdi 2010 by a Skoda dealership Ruislip , London . Anyone on here think that is good prive despite Skoda pricing place of  £349 for a cam belt and £100 water pump making a total of  £449.  I did question this price and they stated  unable to match as other garage must be using non- genuine parts.

Glad i shopped around still alot but better than £670.
