Temp gauge not dropped after leaving car parked up for a while?!!!

Featured Replies

Here we go...

A bit of the usual spirited drive to get to a lesson in a sports centre the other side of town. Car is left for one and a half hours. When I come back to the car the temp gauge goes up to the graduation just below 90 immediately!!!

Is that okay or should I get worried? Also if I go on a spirited drive like any turbocharged car I should leave the engine running a while before I turn it off to let the turbo cool right? At how many RPM does it kick in?

Thanks to all

Aaquil.

If it was a diesel I'd have said it was normal. :) THREE hours and it would have been normal. Not so sure on a 1.8T, maybe it shows how thermally sound the engine is?

Yeah mine does that, stays warm for an hour or two... Nice because you can park up go do something for two hours then jump back in and rag the tits off it straight away :D

Yes...leave it running for a couple of minutes.

Turbo kicks in under 2krpm....you get max torque at 1.95k....IIRC.
