Throttle body question

Featured Replies

Hi folks, i have a Fabia and a Golf but to be honest the Golf forums i've visited are not a patch on this forum so i hope you don't mind me posting a golf related technical question

A diagnostic on my car stated the Absolute Throttle Position was 95.3% at idle and this didn't change when i pressed the accelerator, i thought it mights just have been the cheap diagnostic cable i was using so thought no more of it.

I took the EGR and Throttle Valve off today to clean and low and behold the throttle plate was wide open so i think that reading is correct.  TI am not suffering any performance issues such as limp mode and i have no codes related to the Throttle body??  Despite cleaning it along with the EGR is still won't close.  I do have the CEL but it relates to the Intake Air Temp and a MAF change hasn't helped there.

I'm thinking it could be the wiring as one of the wires is under some stress as there's a lot of tension on the harness.

How do i test them with a multimeter?  There are 4 wires numbered 1-4, 1 looks the most stressed.  I don't have any wiring probes.

i've attached a photo of the harness.

I hope to god its a wire becuase i bought a new Throttle body 25k miles ago.

Many thanks

you don't think it's a faulty pedal potentiometer do you?
