Gone for a change this week. V6 powa!

Featured Replies

As I arrived in Vegas for a week's work, they offered me an upgrade at minimal cost I couldn't refuse

No tyre (or is it tire?!) squeal yet. Must try harder. A bit slow to get going too, but once the revs go above 3-4000, the V6 starts singing rather nicely :)

Planning a drive down the strip with the roof down tonight or tomorrow. Should be fun

I had the exact same car which I also picked up in Vegas at the airport.

Nearly drove mine off a cliff trying too hard on the only twisty bit of road

in America along the pacific coast highway 1.

It was great fun driving along the coast with the top down though.

Truly a deathbed memory.

I wonder if it's the same car.... :wonder:

It's two cylinders short of what it should have IMO ;)

Red one was San Francisco, that's the one with a track timer which I had to test coming out a toll booth!

Blue one was same holiday but in Hawaii

Mustangs have to be done!

This one is also registered in California. The plate starts with 6WX

(convenient - my initials!)

Ooh I'll have to see if there's a lap timer on mine!

Looking at the specs though, it has roughly twice the cubic capacity (3.7 something litre), one and a half time the number of cylinders, the higher performance fuel, but doesn't produce much more power than my 1.9 tdi :o

Shelby would have been nice, but that would have taken it over budget...

Drove the same v6 in Hawaii. It was that hot we could only have the roof down in the evening. Spent a fortune on fuel but was worth it!

I had this for my first two weeks in the states,

Lovely comfortable car, but a biggun.

Then at the start of week 3 swapped at Vegas airport for this

Then for week 4 after flying on to Hawaii we had some 2.5L Nissan jobbie.

I didn't photograph that though because it wasn't pretty.

So 3 cars in 4 weeks away LOL

Success! Going round a corner, I planted it and got the revs sufficiently high to get the rear end coming out. Awesome sideways fun :-)

I went to Vegas last June and instead of gambling I got this for a few days

Looks like fun, off to the USA myself in July for Honey moon believe we have a Dodge Charger as our rental car looking forward to it!

Make sure you take a 3.5mm to 3.5mm jack lead with you for your ipod

as the Charger I had didn't have USB.

(the Mustang did though...)

I'm hoping (dreaming) that there will be a massive **** up and they give me the wrong Dodge and confuse Charger with Viper.

Hahahaa, you Mustang freaks ... This is what we normally cruise around in while being over there ...

Out of interest , what sort of prices are you boys paying to hire these Mustangs?

I definitely fancy a go.

Slightly more than a normal car as it's 'convertible'

Still dirt cheap compared to this country. Mustang is just an everyday car to them just like the sebring which is the alternative convertible if you're unlucky enough to get one!

Yeh, the everyday factor and the cheap fuel make having a go in one of these a no brainer I reckon.

Well I had already paid for a bog standard "mid-size" car - and taking the upgrade to the Mustang cost me a total of about £350 for 11 days hire. Seemed a too good opportunity to miss. You really can't beat powersliding round bends with the roof down in the middle of the desert. Just watch out for the local sheriffs and put on some sun lotion!

At less than £35 a day in total I'm guessing the % increase to upgrade couldnt have been much at all then. Great fun.

V8 power for my West Coast road trips - . Rented from the Hertz Gold collection :)

Is that why it is gold coloured?
