climatronic - side vents releasing hot air when switched off

Featured Replies

Hi folks have a several week old Elegance 2.0 TDi. Usually have climate on but have taken to turning it off during this fairly mild spell.

Have noticed a couple of times when I do that hot air comes out of the side vents (effectively in fresh air mode). I can block it off by turning the recirc on (as this works even when the unit is off handily) but its a bit wierd.

Anyone noticed this on theirs?

BTW came from a 2013 FL MK2 vRS TDi and that did do the same on occasions. Wondering if its just a characteristic. Its completely normal otherwise when on, heats car correctly (or so it seems) and AC works well.

Be interested to hear if anyone else has noticed it too.

It's common with most cars to be honest. The hot air you get is just getting pushed through from the engine bay. You can turn the side vents off if you not comfortable with it. Nothing you should be concerned about though. I never use recirc as makes windows steamy and when you have passengers that cough and sneeze etc you breath it all in. Lol. Unless I go past a farm and it unbearable.

Mines a fabia greenline MK 2

Yeah thanks for that gizmogreenline, was just about to post back and say I think ive answered my own Q.

When i turned off the system it was set to 20 degrees c both sides....suspect when it turns off the state of the flaps inside the matrix for the air blending probably remain as they were.....I was requesting a reasonable temp hence the warm air.

Ive just been out and turned it to LO then turned it off...almost willing to bet money it will now just let in fresh air at ambient temp.

Also agreed on the Mk3 after each ignition on its possible to turn on air recirc even with the climatronic off so wasnt really a big deal anyway....is something I could not do with my Mk2 facelift...whenever the climatronic was turned off recirc would disable. Was necessary to shut the vents on that.
