New Tablet

Featured Replies

Someone, please, give me a reason to upgrade my Tablet.

I currently have a 16GB HP TouchPad that I have dual booted to run Android Ice Crean Sandwich.

To be honest It does everything I want and need but I feel I need a new one.

What have you got?

I'm open to all OS's. Android, Windows and even Apple.

I gave up with a nexus 7 and reverted to a 14" convertible laptop running windows 8.1 and love it.

I've a Nexus 7 first gen and a Nokia Lumia Win8 Phone

Have used a Dell 10" Win8 pro tablet at work too and assessed iPads for work too.

I'd say unless you're a gamer or store lots of video then I wouldn't bother changing.

The screens on them now are at the point where improvements are next to impossible to detect. So only upgrade for more memory or better battery life.

I'd stick to main brands if I were you, easier to get accessories.

My own humble opinions to follow -

Apple - Don't bother with unless you plan on going the whole hog with iPhone, iPad and Macbook etc. Can all work together really well if that's your thing. Will **** you off if you're techy since the covers are very much on. Quite secure while in support.

Android - Playthings, fully of novelty amusement. You do have to keep you eyes peeled since the play store is full of malware. Cheap.

Windows 8 - Good for work crap for play. Comes with Office and good MS Cloud integration. Very well made in general but expensive and the app store is pretty much empty. More secure for the office than for home since you can only turn on the encryption with a MS server to hand. Fudgable but serious geek genes needed.

iPad I have tried many others and sorry but apple is wayyyyyy better ! Is it worth the money ? Probably not but the others are cheap for a reason , we have iMac and air books but I never put this iPad down

I run a Nexus 10 and had it since about the second week it came out. Very good but usual Android reboots and hangs every now and then.

Wife and daughters all run IPads in various versions. Never hung or done anything other than work.

Might be worth doing a reset. I don't think my Nexus has ever rebooted. A few apps have crashed but not many.
