Brakes on a normal Mkii vs VRS

Featured Replies

Right as I don't really delve into this side of cars too often I need to ask this question without sounding like a complete n00b. I've currently got 15" wheels (from another MkII Fabia) sitting in my garage. Current wheels (17") are in need of new tyres shortly. My question is will the 15" fit straight on?

I think they will yes - 16'' is minimum for 312mm brakes so 15'' should fit over 288mm.

The 15 inch wheels might be fine. What tyres are on them. Since it is not really winter. Be sure the speed/load rating is ok for a v r s even if the UK n s l is not high, just to be sure your insurance is happy.

i use old golf 15" for my winters, its very neat fit but they do go on, just clearing the calipers

The tyres are "all seasons" so to speak as my tyre guy couldn't get any that winters I wanted. These are "high" profile this won't affect things though will it?

Any more than a 50 profile and it'll mess things up.

Www.willtheyfit.com allows to check this

I thought the correct fit was195/55/15

Given that 195/50/16 gave a correct radius, remember the profile is a ratio not a measurement, that is why 205/45/16 is an option also.

Clearly you can't just lump any tyres on there they need to, in combo with the alloys, match the size of the original wheels.

will have to have a look tomorrow and report back.

195/55/15 fits..JUST.  You have approx 3mm clerance between the rim and the caliper. This is the size Skoda recommend for winter tyres on the vRS too.
