Retrofit Maxidot needs mileage correction

Featured Replies

Had a second hand Maxidot cluster fitted into my fl Octavia VRS yesterday by JKM in Portsmouth, but they couldn't (or wouldn't) do the mileage correction, which is now showing 21,000 miles too many.

Have found a couple of companies that will do it in Hampshire, cheapest being £70.  Does anyone know anyone local-ish that would do it cheaper please?

Thanks

Kev

bite the bullet and pay the £70 or go back to JKM and get them to sort it

That's the point Ed, JKM said they're not allowed to do it (even though they have given me a receipt with proof of mileage on BOTH clusters to get it done somewhere else)

How much did JKM charge to do the cluster?

When I fit a Cluster I correct the mileage, to avoid these issues

It was £99 inc VAT, which is 1 1/2 hours labour

so if you end up paying £70 for mileage correction, that works out £169

I would have come down for that, too bad.

I was trying to arrange some jobs down where you are on the mk5 forum

Hindsight is a wonderful thing Ed !  It would have worked out less for me if I'd have driven to you and back in the first place when you gave me the advice about buying and fitting.

On a better note, I'm well impressed with the Maxidot though, lol.

P.s.  Are you still intending to come down near this way by any chance?

I'm still trying to arrange something
