Where to mount phone for aux cable

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm just wondering where people mount there phone when plugged into the aux. I have it at my side I the handbrake and rest the phone on the rear cup holder. Is there a way to get the blanking buttons out from the side of the lock button so I can put my phone on the front cup holder. Hate it not being accessible behind me.

I know I can't use my phone whilst driving but I need to skip tracks and answer it via loud speaker.

Also open to any other suggestions people may have on where to put it.

Cheers

Have a look at what they provide mate, see if anything takes your fancy.

I havent got one personally, but have only heard good things about them. Apart from the price.. Haha.

Hmmmm yeah, means I'm still going tovar the cable trailing across the handbrake and gear knob though

The aux and power socket are in a sometimes annoying place arent they hsha.

Maybe splash out and get bluetooth fitted then? Be it OEM, or a parrot kit?

Old images as phone is now different but mounted in the same place running a 3m 3.5mm jack to jack lead down behind dash, along inside centre console to aux in.

Aaas nice one!

My dad used to have british gas company cars, they had a guy that goes to all the new cars and fits a kit similar to that.

Proper dock for each phone and everything. Only took him a minimal amount of time to install

Finally got round to having a fiddle with this today. I have managed to get the blanking button out which was a right PITA to figure out. 4 clips to hold that thing in is just wrong.

At the moment it looks like this

DOes anybody know where I could get a rubber grommet or something to fit into the gap now, so I can pull the wire through?

Cheers

Why not just cut a notch out of the blanking plate?

that's not a bad shout to be honest! But it could be a bit awkward due to the shape of it!

Yeah, suppose it depends on the placement of the clips too but you might just manage to use a file on the longer side. If it works it would look tidier especially if you were able to feed the wire under and just leave the jack visible when not in use.

You may be able to get a replacement one from the parts counter?

yeah I see what you mean, how would I get a part number for something like that, there are some numbers on the plug thingy 5jo 864 521,  does that sound right?

I'm not good with part numbers but the parts dept normally have a parts 'map' for all parts, give them a try
