Help with Xenon D1S

Featured Replies

Hi guys

had a superb which got a damaged headlamp unit in a small crash.....Got a new one.

The old headlamp I thought would use it for a project....so I cut open the headlamp and took out the projector housing and ordered a D1S Xenon Bulb from ebay......but the bulb does not fit? Is the superb using a different kind of bulb? Can anyone help me out? Have attached pics of how the projector and the bulb housing looks like.

Some used the D2S bulb, iirc.

Superb II has always used a D1S burner (S= shield for projector use). This is one with an internal igniter - the silver square bit on the end.

The D2S has an external igniter and is therefore a smaller burner than D1S. The Mk.1 Superb uses a D2S burner.

Just a warning to the Superb 2 FL brigade: the lights are now D3S with H7 halogen main beam. I think you have to take the headlight out completely if you ever want to change the HID burner, the new design is crap compared to the pre FL.

Simple

Ring your dealer...Give them your reg # and they will tell you what bulb it is

Saves all these conflicting views and advice

Actually the dealers here are very anal....I got my new headlight off ebay...they dont take too kindly to this.....and fitted it myself.....so the extra spoilt one I took apart and took the projector out...ordered the D1S bulbs and they wouldnt fit!!!!

Even though on a sticker on the underside of the headlight it says D1S????? Highly confusing!!

Then I'm sorry..I can help you no further

Good luck
