Coilover Helper Springs

Featured Replies

I have FK Streetline coilovers and have them set as low as they'll go and they are very low compared to OEM but still not low enough for my liking.

I've been recommended ( by mates ) to remove front helper springs. My query is, is this safe to do so? What are the bad points?

Many thanks.

My helpers are out ;)

The bad point of taking the helper springs out is that the main springs might come out of place when the car is jacked up.

I'm seriously thinking about removing mine. It just means taking the coilover out again to remove and then refit ( ball ache )

Is the spring coming out when can is jacked up the only problem or could this occur during during as well ?

* during driving

It would be very unlikely that the spring would come out in daily driving unless for some reason the wheel involved lost contact with the tarmac. This could not happen on a normal road surface.This is more in the domain of rallying.

I think I'm going to take them out and just be extra careful when it comes to jacking the car ( and explain to my Indy to be careful if changing tyres etc )

I've only had them fitted a week so I'm so annoyed I didn't have them removed before fitting grrrrr.
