Aux In Connector but no connector on back of HU

Featured Replies

Hi Guy's,

My 07 L&K has an Aux In in the centre console and I'm able to select Aux In on the HU (Audience) but I get no sound what so ever. Upon investigation, I've found that the 12 pin socket connector where the Aux In cable should connect too is missing from the back of the HU. The other 12 pin socket connector is there for the telephone. Can anyone please advise ?

Has the CD changer been removed possibly? If so the wires for the aux would be dangling somewhere behind the headunit and could be connected back up? If not you remove the rear ashtray and gubbins you can see the aux in wiring from under the port and see where it heads off and hopefully track it down.

Hi Adam, the Audience HU has a built in cd changer, not a seperate one, perhaps thats why the rear connector is missing. Seems strange though because the aux socket is fitted in the jumbo box

Personally I'm not familiar with that unit but my advice would be to trace the wires from the aux port....

Have you got a phone kit fitted? If not has someone transposed the plugs on the head unit socket?

Hi Guy's, I do have a phone kit, its a parot CK3100 which I installed. I guess I need to take the centre console apart and trace the wire, as previously mentioned. Would the aux in connector (HU end) be part of the main HU loom

Double post sorry

Yes its part of the blue mini 12 pin plug within the quadlock but you say that is missing??

Yes mate, its not there, the other one with the phone connections is but not the aux one

I also have the same parrot kit and it comes with two connectors one the original plug connects to and one that now goes to the radio, it does not use the telephone in connectors as it sends its audio direct to the speakers I think that your connectors may be messed up. Do you have a multimeter that you could test the centre console USB cable to blue plug wires?

Not all versions of the Audience support Aux in, only the later ones. its possible (assuming your not the original owner) that the headunit had failed in the past and a replacement installed. its common practice to replace with refurbished units, so its possible an older unit which does not support aux was installed. If you locate the sticker with the part number it should also have a date printed on it, how does that compare with the build date of the car.

Hi Guy's, I'm the original owner and nothing's been changed other than me adding the parrot kit. The other 12 pin connector is black, but I'm assuming the aux one should be blue ?

jjc, with regards to the parrot kit, did you have to move the mute connector at all. It was a few years ago when I did mine but I remember doing something with the mute wire but can't remember what

Is the picture shown in the first post of your unit or from online. The Audience connection picture I have shows no Aux connection at all.

mine definitely shows Aux L Aux R and Aux earth

Yes mate, its not there, the other one with the phone connections is but not the aux one

I guess that means you need to trace the wire from the port end then. But given you have had the car from new it seems that it was presumably disconnected when the phone kit was fitted, or never connected from new, which would be surprising given there is a port? Can you recall that aux in plug being fitted at the time of the phone kit install?

The aux port was fitted from new but I can't remember if the 12 pin connector was at the HU end when I fitted the parrot kit. It's a possibility that I acidently removed the connector from the housing, I'll have a good look over the Easter break

Good luck with that then. Let us know how it goes.

Right guy's, sorry for the delay, I was on holiday last week. Well, I've sorted the problem regarding the missing AUX connector for the HU. When I installed the parrot kit, about 6 years ago, I didn't move the connector from the original HU harness to the new Parrot cable/connector block.

Since moving it I can now use my AUX port but, I now have a new problem. When selecting AUX on the HU, regardless of which AUX setting chosen (1 to 3), I get a buzzing noise through the speakers. This can be heard without having anything plugged into the AUX port. Can anyone advise ?
