back to black/bumper care

Featured Replies

With an Octavia vrs expected shortly the old Mondeo got a hoover, trim polish, very very thorough wash, light polish, wax and a bit of black trim care in readiness for an auto trader advert.  It came up very very nicely even if I say so myself!  Still looks smart despite its 11 years 7 months and 11 days of age     If i work out how i may even post a photo im so proud of my weekends work!

Anyway to get to the point....i finished an old bottle of decosol exterior black bright, which while it stains fingers it does do a good job of restoring and protecting exterior black plastic and rubber. is the stuff still available? If not, what else is good?  Something tried and tested on a mk 3 octy's black bits would be perfect.

If you wanted something good for relatively little, I think Autoglym Bumper Gel does a decent job.

A few pennies more is Auto Finesse Dressle.

Then for the real big hitters, something like an ArtDeShine, Nanolex or similar quartz based coating will give serious long term protection.

Cheers. I have some of the autoglym, it cleans black plastic very well but is less good at restoring any faded bits. I'll have a look at the other suggestions, thanks

This has been recommended to me as being a near permanent solution to black plastic trim: http://gtechniq.com/shop/3s-for-cars/exterior-coatings/c4-permanent-trim-restorer/

It isn't cheap though!

Haven't tried it yet, but given that I've just had a rear bumper respray and one new piece if black trim, the other trim looks less than perfect so I might get some of this to bring it up to scratch.

Pay a bit extra and use aerospace 303 I use it all the time great product
