HELP! clutch bleeding problems

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have today been changing the fluid on my 1.9tdi Octi 2.

All was going well until pressure was lost in the pedal. Now it drops to the floor with a little pressure. Fluid was topped up at all times.

Any ideas?

If thats all you have done then it has to be an air lock, keep pumping the  clutch and bleeding the air out.

Thx for the replies.

After borrowing a mates easy bleed kit, some large bubbles came out.

System now seems good.

I didn't know there was a bleed nipple on the master cylinder and Haynes don't mention it. I'll have a look after dinner. Do you reckon I should do anything with the system now that I know of this master cylinder or leave as is.

On first use after the bite point was low but after a few gear changes it feels like its as it was before I started the service.

Thoughts?

sounds to me that there might still be air in the system, if it works o.k. leave it for  about a few days any air might work it's way through , then bleed again. if you are doing it correctly then it won't do any harm.

Took at look at the master cylinder. I can't see a bleed valve on it.

Just bled the brakes. Clutch feels good.

I'm confident that after the gunson was deployed the clutch was done correctly. It's working fine so I think I'll call it job jobbed.

I'd never bleed my brakes without an ezibleed again. Very good bit of kit and guarantees getting all the air out.
