door handle

Featured Replies

Quick question, folks regarding an O/S/R door handle.

On the edge of the door, under the grommet there's a T20 or T25 screw than you should only undo three or four turns max.

If you still know the screw I mean, then hopefully you're qualified to answer;

what does the screw go into?

Cheers,

Lee

Changing your door handles Lee?

The screw moves a kind of c shaped clip which holds the part of the door handle that doesn't move.

You can undo it a little more, but don't fully remove it

No,mate. Bust one :(

Any idea how to replace that screw or does a handle come with a replacement?

If you're changing the handles, just keep hold of the lock/blank while you undo the screw until it pulls out. I had a screw drop but wasn't a problem getting it back if you have a telescopic magnet.

Oh bad times. Did you lose the screw? I've got a spare handle but not the screw. Can you get the p/n from etka?

Failing that could you get a replacement from another Fabia/ octavia?

Depends if you biught the whole lot or just the handle. If you need to change the whole lot, it might be a door card off job.

cheers, John. I lost the blank somehow. Replacement handle ordered. Looks like the door card's coming off again then.

Glad it's bolted rather than riveted :D

I may have, Charlie :(

Having a look on vagcat/ skodateilekatalog later :dull:

Local scrappers trip tomorrow to collect and take it from there.

Think it's number 48 on here? Part number N 90976902

^ Oh wait, scrap that. That was the front.

Bit puzzled about this. Lee says O/S/R which I presume means offside rear. I didn't know the rears had the screw he refers to.

Maybe he's referring to part number 4? Looks like the adjuster screw

I think number 4 holds the door catch assembly in place and there is no grommet over them. You can see the cut-out in the door where the catch goes. The catalogue shows four of those per car which means two each side which would be correct for the catch screws.

Maybe he meant front door and not rear. If he did, I'd say it's number 48. If he does mean rear door, then I don't know. lol
