Service reset started from 9400 vs 10000

Featured Replies

Morning,

I've just serviced my Octavia and reset the service indicator.

It was previously on the 2 year variable type service (when I bought it, it had about 17000 left to next service).

I have serviced it early and checked before I reset the indicator to see what it now read. It stated 10500 left until service required.

I reset it by holding the trip button, turning ignition on, letting go then twisting it right (as per Haynes manual).

After I'd done this it stated 9400 to next service. I thought it would start at 10k.

Anyone know why it's started at 9400?

It's not the end of the world but strange

Because 9400 miles is 15k kilometres. Car being of continental origin goes by kilometres rather than by miles. I usually reset mine, drive for 600 miles and reset it again.

You can actually alter the intervals with VCDS

Sweet.

Yeah I know you can you can set what you like with vcds but I don't have one!

If I remember I'll reset it at 600 miles in. If not I'll probably service it in a year and won't have done 9400 by then.

I just thought it was strange but thanks for clearing that up.
