Should I Be Worried

Featured Replies

Bought a 2010 vRS diesel last week with full service history from Cambridgeshire and drove it home to Wigan no problems. But tonight I've done a motorway run again and on a stop off noticed smoke coming from the front of the car, smelt like burning oil. No lights of warning on the dashboard. Lifted the bonnet and  noticed the smoke coming from behind the engine on the left hand side. Is that where the turbo is located? Carried on with are journey and on arrival no smoking coming from the car.  Then on the ride home noticed a bit of smoke but not as much as the 1st time!!

Spilt oil getting hot?

Exactly that. Clumsy technician.

Did it have the cambelt done before you picked it up? Could be the rocker cover is properly fastened down and is leaking oil down the back of the block.

Cam belt not been done yet, due on getting it done ASAP. Been told getting the dpf wet might also be a cause. Also told to keep an eye on the oil for the next couple of days. If the problem continues they'll book it in under warranty. Did put a fair bit of water over the car while cleaning it!!

Mechanic friend has had a look at the car and told me it's a leaking injector seal. Sure it must come under warranty?

I think that can be an issue caused by the injector replacement recall. Has it had this done?

Will find out tomorrow

The injector recall affected only the PD170 (pre-facelift), not the CR170.

Good point, noticed the vrs bit but not the 2010 bit.

Had the car in again and they are saying the smoking is coming from an oil leak around the turbo. Think they said it was a pipe on the oil return from the turbo, quoted £105 + VAT. Wouldn't mind but the parts are only £15!!!
