Gear knob system/mechanism

Featured Replies

So after 160k plus miles the gear selector (interior one, not sure of the proper name) has become creaky, dirty and at times hard to move freely.

See pic attached, do I need a new one? Tips to sort out would be great

My thoughts.....Hoover and wd40 lol not sure if this is the correct method though

Thanks in advancepost-85085-0-31254000-1397828842_thumb.jpg

Could take it out and clean it and then grease up and replace?

There is not much in there to go wrong mate, just that ball you can see really, more than likely it is the cables getting tired
