Best car seat for the VRS? 9 months - 4 years

Featured Replies

Hello

Any recommendations for a good car seat for the Fabia? Just with the steep angle of the seats I'm not sure all will fit.

Would go to the shops but its Easter and I need it pretty urgent so going to order today.

Thank you

Rob

The Recaro we have is a good seat, it supports my daughter much better than the cheap one my parents bought for incidental use, i.e. when she falls asleep her head looks far more comfortable and she doesn't keep slumping forward and someone having to constantly prop her up again. It fits nice in the front of the vrs, in the back you need to lift the head rest up for it to sit in the car properly and ideally move the front seat forward a couple notches for leg room depending on how old, my daughter is 5 in a couple months and tall of her age though.

I bought it when she was 9 months old because it's got RECARO written on, everything else has just ended up a bonus :whew:  :giggle:

That's the one I've been looking at, so it fits ok in the back?

Yes that's the Recaro "Young Sport".

We've had one of those for nearly four years and it's gone in everything from a Yeti to a VRS to a GT-R and it's a great seat.

It's got a mini harness for when the child is too small to use the seatbelt round the front of the seat too.

I recommend that one too. Its whats in my car. Swmbo has a batman one. (Not sure on make) it looks cool but isnt the best. You wont go wrong with the young sport.

Thank you, I'll get ordering one.

Just bought the wife a new 1 Series M Sport and the seat that was in her Countryman won't fit in that, whoops. So she's having the Maxi-cosi out of the VRS as that fits so i need to get one quick as the seat from the Countryman is way way too big for the Fabia.

That Recaro does not look suitable for a 9 month old to me, does it have any recline to protect the neck in case of an accident, fairly sure new guidelines are extending the amount of time a child should be rearwards facing for this very reason.  Maybe very good for older children but not sure about the lower end of your stated age range.

We are running a Maxi Cosi Axiss in my car, it secures in really well, has good tilt and the rotation of the seat towards the car door so you can do easy lift ins/outs is a godsend in car parks.

It has loads of extra padding and a harness for when then they are smaller, in the pic you see it has all been taken out as I said she tall for her age. We had the rear facing maxi cosi fron new born through to about nine months, can't remember exactly now but she was far to big for that at the age recommendations I seem to remember and plenty strong enough to hold her head up, I think most of us have a good sense of what our kids need and when so we went with bit of seat manufacturers recommendations and what we as parents felt was right for our child. Guidlines are exactly that, guidelines.

Sorry, just to clarify the boy is now 17 months old, I was just stating the seat range that the shops talk about.

Going to the pram shop near Wigan on my lunch to buy.
