Shopping basket on the bonnet

Featured Replies

Some git has put a shopping basket on my bonnet,

leaving a small group of deep nicks.

I had bought a touch up kit (genuine Skoda) so

I read the instructions, or tried to, there was every

language except English!

I do know how to use the stuff but drying times would

have been useful for a start!

Many years ago a work mate watched a shopper do the same on his car while he searched for his own car key in his pocket....my mate hurried over, picked up the box and promptly dropped it from great height onto the ground while uttering expletives to said owner.

Stop. Don't think about trying to touch that up with the brush built in to the touch up paint. Buy and use a very fine artists brush. Mix the clear coat in with the colour. This will give you some gloss. Don't bother trying to apply the clear coat over the top. Ideally build it up slightly proud of the repair and very carefully wet sand the area back with maybe a 2500 grit on a foam sanding block, then polish back up.

Ouch!  Are we talking fingernail catching deep?  Might be lucky and wet sand out the marks, but they sound pretty bad.  Not just a "put basket on" but also sounds like it was scraped along a bit.

Can't believe anyone would do that!

If you bought the touch-up kit in the UK there is a legal obligation for the instructions to be in English. In the absence of English instructions firstly complain to the retailer and get them to sort it, otherwise take the situation to your local Trading Standards office.

Do you have a reference for that?

Diolch.

A touch up will never be enough. I'd consider a smart repair. Also, the instructions (or at least the legal information) are part of the carton, you need to open it up some more.

Just get it painted - it'll never be right otherwise!

Yup, Merlinman is right......

If I saw someone put a box on my car they'd hit the floor before the box would.
