Why Does My Passenger Seat keep Moving?

Featured Replies

Its not an issue for me as I never sit in it but my wife keeps complaining that the seats moves position the whole time. I ave noticed this when I get in. Is there some button that needs (un)ticking to stop it?

If they are Electric memory seats is there a function where the seating position is coded to a key. Maybe if different keys are used it will revert to that key setting

I would guess that you have electric seats and your wife is inadvertantly hitting one of the buttons on the side of the seat either when she is getting in or when making herself comfortable.

I have found that if I am leaning on the seat squab when hoovering the front footwell the back rest often reclines itself as I come into contact with the control levers (buttons)

There are a couple of fairly long threads on this issue. They're quite old but seem to get occasional posts. Might be worth a read:

Yes, I have a phantom seat. No swapping of keys or anything bizarre changes in the seat location. Next time it is being serviced i will mention.

Gosh! SWMBO is always accusing me of moving the seat (or wondering if it's my mistress!) so maybe I should listen in future.

As my wife gets out she sometimes sits on the button as she gets out. She too thought I had someone else in the car until I caught her, very amusing.

Happens all the time in my car too and then I'm told how manual seats would be so much better!  Funny how I hear no complaints on a cold day when the heated seat is put on straight away
