Just bought superb se plus 2lt tdi 140bhp year 2012 18000 miles ,only asking have just sold octavia 2lt 140 elegance the new superb purchased is it same engine or is it lower spec driving it seems higher geared.

Basically the same engine only thing that would have changed will be minor upgrades depending on the year of your old car.

Thanks old car 2005 ,why i am asking just got car yesterday went for a run out to see what it was like and i seemed to be always going down the gears at 50 miles an hour was having to change down.

In that case I don't think that is correct as in 2005 it would have been the pdi engine if I am correct and not the cr engine of today.

Old one would have been a PD new one is CR. They have different characteristics, the PD engines tend to deliver the torque in one big LMP whereas the CR is more smooth power delivery wise.

And the Superb is heavier!

The gearing is different, I have a PD140 Octavia and a CR140 Superb.

 

However, the gearing on the Octavia Scout is different to that of the 2WD Octavia so this may be why the gearing between my two cars is different.

 

I can leave our cul-de-sac in 2nd on tickover in the Octavia. Tickover in 2nd in the Superb is much faster, I have to dip the clutch.
