The fabia after many years of loyal service has developed a very strange noise...

 

When accelerating under load it sounds like the engine has become haunted - there's a ghost like "woooo" along with the usual turbo whistle.

 

Very confused by this as it's still pulling fine, no warning lights just a haunted house sound...

 

Any ideas??

Does it sound like a siren? And is it there all the time?

Vaguely like a siren, but more like a ghost. Not there all the time, only on acceleration - no hauntings on idle or braking/cruising...

Boost leak maybe?? mine does a similar thing, but also no loss in power

Boost leak? What about vac pipes

I would have thought that boost leak might have given a loss in power. Going to try and strip the arch liner out over the bank holiday and check the intercooler pipework...
