Yellow Warning light

Featured Replies

New OctyII 1600 FSI Elegance, 6 months old, 7500 km on the clock.

The same day I had the first scheduled oil change (at 7500km) a yellow warning sign lit up. It is the one showing like a joint of two pipes and described in the handbook as "Some fault in the exhaust systems".

The dealer wired it up to their computer but nothing wrong showed up. He then cleared all warnings and ran the checks with the engine running. Again no warnings or faults showed up.

His verdict was that maybe there was a transient fault which having registered on the car's computer kept showing, even though the fault was not there any longer. He asked me to keep an eye on it and report it if it happens again.

The only thing that I think I might have done 'wrong' was to overfill it with petrol to bring it to the nearest round pound... Or, maybe, I shouldn't have had the oil changed!..

Has any of you folks had the same or similar?

Any ideas what might have caused it?

What do you think of the dealer's verdict?

Could the oil change (the procedure) have anything to do with it?

Could the quality of petrol have anything to do with it (I religiously use 98 octane petrol)

Thanks in advance :)

Well, it happened again!...

Took it to the dealer for wiring up to the big computer diagnostics.

Awaiting verdict. Mystified...

Dodgy lambda sensor?

Mystery solved!...

Some sensor that sends message/instructions to engine about how much air to include in the fuel mixture.

No more yellow (or other) warnings.

Hope that will be the first and last :)
