changed brakes,, few issues.

Featured Replies

Replaced the rear discs and pads on my 1.9tdi elegance earlier.

The pad wear light had come on and the handbrake was near through the roof.

Changed all ok, aside from the slightly tough drivers side piston.

Using the proper rewind tool after a bit of leverage all went ok, disc and pads went on no probs, even got time to touch up the paint on the calipers!

THEN...

took a short drive down the road and instantly the noise was noticeable. A loud rubbing/scratching noise as if pad was contacting disc once in every rotation. The wear warning light still is on and the handbrake when pulled on a 3-4 mph roll does little or nothing!

any suggestions? Thought the change was too good to be true!

Er... I'm pretty sure there's only one pad wear indicator on the Octy and it's on the FRONT nearside...

(based on the vRS)

hmmm, really? in that case the question still stands as the front were done in the last month!

Yes, the wear sensor is front only.

Check front brakes

wear warning never went off after fronts were done so could it be something like the sensor not being reconnected?

Yeah, if you get the passenger side wheel off and get your head behind the caliper you should be able to see the connector.

If whoever did the job fitted front pads without a wear indicator I believe you can get the warning switched off through VCDS.
