FALKEN 453

Featured Replies

Fitted these last October to replace Falken 452, which lasted about 21,000 miles, was impressed with grip, both wet and dry and noise levels.

Onto the 453's have currently covered just over 4,000 miles, initial impressions, better in the dry, on a par in the wet, noise levels have increased a little on motorway, rolling resistance seems worse fuel consumption is down a little when cruising, approx 2/3 mpg, no difference on the urban commute.

Rotated the tyres last week while I gave it a service, Fronts worn down to 5mm, rears 6mm, can't remember if these were 7 or 8mm when new, but not expecting these to last as long as the 452's.

Conclusion so far, decent mid priced tyre but not an improvement on the 452, would I use these again, not too sure at the moment, will see how they last and perform once the tread levels have dropped down to around the 3mm levels.

Will try to remember to update after putting more miles on them.

UPDATE 25/10/14

Now covered 8,000 miles, wearing rather quickly compared to the 452's, one pair down to 3mm and other pair 5mm, grip levels remained on a par, still find them noisy over the 452's. Start looking for new boots in the New Year, don't think I'll be getting 453's again though.

FINAL UPDATE 29/04/15

These have now gone, lasted 12,00 miles, when down to the last 3mm they got very noisy, and dry road grip was awful, wet grip stayed pretty consistent.

Would I buy again, Nope, not as good as the 452's they replaced.

Currently running around on my RSR's. Trying Hankook Ventus V12 Evo2 next, will start a new thread when they are on.

Thanks for the review, I'm due a full set of tyres, currently using 452's which have been perfect for me. Think I'm gonna stay away from 453's, thought the 452's were noisy enough and the reduced mpg puts me off. Already tried kuhmos which lasted 6 months with worse mpg.

Agree with you on this. I had a few sets of 452s, but the 453s weren't as good.
