MAF readings after remap

Featured Replies

Hi all, hope you're all well. I was wondering if having a remap alters the readings you would get from the MAF.

Basically my friend has a fabia vrs blt, which I presume is standard as the boost pressure is 1.3 bar. I checked a few things with the torque app, and noticed his MAF was reading about 9mg/s on tickover, and mine reads 14mg/s. They both have honda s2000 air filters, but the only other difference is mine has a stage 1 remap. Would this be the reason? Or is it likely his MAF is on it's way out?

Cheers

Dan.

You measure a MAF performance at WOT - not at idle.

Sorry, but that wasn't the question.

Is it bringing up engine management light on??

Yes = clean it first . No joy... replace it

no = dont bother doing anything unless engine magment light comes on

Maping a car alters what the ecu will do with injectors and turbo and egr. Giving more fuel and boost ect.

it does not alter the information received from the sensors

It's just noise at idle - less than 1% of the WOT value - the MAF is not accurate at extreme low levels. Add to that you can't tell what the EGR is doing. You do the test at WOT so the EGR is off/at minimum duty cycle.

There's no management light on, and it drives fine. He just asked why there would be different readings, and I couldn't figure out why. The only reason I could come up with was the remap, but if that wouldn't alter it I'm stumped.

Cheers.

It just is

frustrating but easiest way haha

Swap them over from your car to his and see if the readings change, if they do it's on it's way out maybe?

If they don't change it's down to the ecu/remap
