rusting wheel arches

Featured Replies

Help.. wheel arches are just starting to show early signs of rust

i thought the plastic wheel arch liners would have stopped water retention on mud.. obv not

Do i tackle this myself.. for a thorough job.. or what ?

Leaves etc can build up behind the liner and stay damp. Also it could just be grit getting behind it and if it rubs effectively sanding away the paint.

I would say it depends how bad it is and what your expectations are whether you can do it yourself.

Is there a warranty on these like VW had on the golf?....

Your car has a 12 year anti corrosion warranty so take it down to your nearest Skoda dealer and explain your issue. They should take a close look and photo the issue then send it to Skoda UK for them to decided whether it is a genuine case of corrosion and not stone chip damage, they are barstuards and will try anyway possible to get out of it. Sorry for my negativity but my car is going in tomorrow to get the boot and side sills photographed and sent to Skoda UK, I've been told they will possibly agree to do the boot lid as it can't be stone chip damage on the back but the sills he said I very much doubt it. He suggested playing hard ball if they refuse and say you will never buy a Skoda again if they don't help somehow, they may offer a goodwill gesture and pay half towards the work!

I love how they always use the 'stone chip' argument with little evidence or proof. However; because they 'said so' it must be correct! :@

Believe me I'll be coming from all angles if they try to wiggle out of it, my argument is don't offer a 12 year anti corrosion warranty if you can't live up to it and unless you have proof that it is stone chip damage I want it covered or you'll be speaking to my solicitor! My car is just 8 years old and should not have bodywork issues like this so soon.
