Come on then.Spill the beans (or point me in the right direction if you have :o )

The proper comparison.TDi 140 in the new car against the 1.9TDi 130 in the Furby.

Is it the same kind of fun? Similar acceleration or feel quicker/slower? Fuel consumption etc.Havn't noticed anyone else do a similar swap yet.

Hope you are still pleased with the new one.And yes.Still very jealous :D

The TDi 140 in the Octavia you mean? This is a much heavier car than the Fabia so there cannot be a direct comparison can there?

not that much difference between fabia vrs and octy pd 130 in 0-60 or top speed so in theory 140 should be quicker but not by much

It's a more refined drive than the Fabia as I personally think the engine is smoother. When the turbo spools up it feels a little bit faster but the general pull of the engine is the same. it's a similar kind of fun as I have the sports suspension and 17" wheel that makes the car look so much nicer than with the normal 16" wheels and suspension. The car feels just a little bit less chuckable due to the size and weight, but it feels more stable in the corners for the same reason.

I also fell different when I'm driving it at speed, in the Fabia I felt like everyone was thinking I was racing and speeding off all the time as it's small and powerful, whereas in the Octavia (especially as there is no bodykit) it just seems like I am in a bit of a rush in my motorway cruiser.

MPg is roughly the same for my trip to work at around 38-41 mpg and around 45-48 at 80 on the Motorway with the cruise control on, which I am happy with.

I also think the handling is better as the longer body makes it more stable and the heavier car can handle the power (the fabia has trouble putting the power to the floor when you push it in first and second). Also it does not seem to understeer as much either although I have not pushed it yet to see the limit.

The build quality and the materials is miles better and it is just generally a nicer place to be in than the Fabia. It's quieter at speed too.

The smaller touches in the car as well are better, the puddle lights that are in the wing mirrors, the 1l bottle holders in the front door pockets, the shopping hooks in the boot, the rubber backed interior door hangles and the hinged parcel shelf withe a hook to hold the boot floor up when you need to get to the spare tyre are just a few of the touches that I really like.

the only downpoints for me are the grab handles should have been damped like on the Superb and the VWs (just a bit of penny pinching to me) and the only problem with the engine is that it needs more power before the turbo kicks in as the pull away from stop is even worse than the fabia when it comes to slow than whoosh as the extra weight helps bog it down. Also the 'Auto lights' function is not worth the cash as it's never programmed properly and is a pain about how it works, luckily enough they forgot that on the order and that is my observation from my mums L&K DSG Octavia.

I'm extremly pleased with it and would get remarks that it's better bult and looks nicer than the new Passat (and the old one for that matter) from people that know its a Skoda and the usual BMW stuff from those that dont.

Nice review.I certainly think they have done a great job on the interior.

Sounds like 140 bhp and plenty of torque is more than enough.Seems to post similar mpg to the Fabia which is good.

Enjoy :)

My dad really likes my new Octy but he's still in the 'But it's a Skoda' camp. He went to have a look at the new Passat and although he likes the looks from the outside he reckons the interior and dash in particular is a lot nicer in the Octy 2.

He's got to choose his new company car in November and I know he's desperately trying to find something nicer than the Octy :D:D
