Running high - do I go stage 2?

Featured Replies

The new bits have arrived and are going on Wednesday with cambelt change. So with everything currently sat on the car, I am good for stage 2 with Rtech...

But she had her birthday last week, with 170k on the clock. I've looked after her well, I would like to think. Always used the best petrol, tried to be sympathetic with the cold starts and warm finishes, kept on top of the oil-ish. And up till last week when the water pipe cracked, she has been running fine.

But with the miles, am I pushing it?

mine is on 161k and is not treated so carefully, I wanted to go stage 2 with r-tech but apparently they will not touch it if it has lpg????  I woudn't worry about the mileage as long as the car gets looked after should be good for 300k :D

The extra required from the turbo might finish it off. The engine will be fine its the bits around it that might let you down.

Turbo was replaced with an 88k one.

I wouldn't worry about it. I've seen engines have to be replaced well below 100K.

Compression is the only thing I can see being any problem with high miles but, if its right, its right.

The alternative is to go get a car you know nothing about with the 'right' amount of miles and that could be a much bigger pig than your car.

Lets be honest here, you're going to do it anyway!

I just don't want to kill her off prematurely. As for compression, after the pipe blew out all the water, my mate compression tested it and it held pressure?

Go for it :)

Do you mean he tested the cooling system?

I think he might of ment cylinder compression lol

My bad, thought doing that did that as well because it's putting pressure through the block.
