Anyone taken one out without damage

Anyone? I want to drop mine off the ceiling to see if i can get to an audio out.

This may not be relevant, but I once took the ceiling mounted DVD player out of my previous car (Chrysler Voyager).

 

The screen had failed and I was trying to diagnose the fault. As far as I can remember there was absolutely no issues with removing it and putting it back again. No damage at all. Can't remember the make, but It was not a Ronson.

A friend of mine had a Voyager and it had the identical dvd player mounted in it. What I want to know is how do you get it free? I have tugged and pulled and looked for clips and nothing gives.

Ahh, in that case it much have been mounted in a similar way to mine. 

 

If I remember correctly, you flip down the screen and look for screws in the void that the screen folds into.....there may be cosmetic plastic plugs over the screw holes.....although mine didn't have these. I think there were 4 screws that hold the unit onto the mounting plate on the roof......when you get the screws out then you have an awkward moment of trying to disconnect the wiring while lowering the player! But all in all quite simple when you find the screws. 

Right oh! It looks like I need an aux cable anyway to get an audio out to the stereo! Thanks a bunch.

Very similar to my old one......I really miss it, might look into getting one of these in my Octavia!
