Retro-fitting MFSW

Featured Replies

I saw this in the classifieds, and wondered if it's a straight-forward retro fit into a Fabia II? I've read on here that some people have done it, but haven't managed to establish whether it's just a bolt-on affair or whether wiring changes and VAG-COM tweaking is required.

It will require extra wiring and coding with VCDS.

A few on here have done it, Eddie-NL seems to be the go to guy to get it done.

On the mfsw subject, what extra toys are there on that wheel, i have a vrs that as standard has a mfsw with small leather pack and phone controls on top but the right hand spoke of the wheel is blank unlike the wheel in the link. Am i missing something??

Nah. Thats how the mfsw is on the fabia i think mate

Tah, I did look into it when car arrived and asked dealer if that was as should be and the answer was yes but i do think they tell you what you want to hear and if it happens to be true then bonus. The phone controls are via the stalk or the nav screen, the bit I could not work out was the small leather pack, the Monte looks the same inside with exception of the red stitching on the wheel, quite liked that...

amstrange1 - What age is your Fabia? I think the airbag shape has changed on the most recent ones so unless your current wheel looks much like that one then your current airbag won't fit.

wrightcnc2009 - It's quite easy to add the right hand buttons.  Cheapest way is one set of these http://www.cars-equipment.com/www/en/shop/steering-wheels-accessories/oem-skoda-octavia-superb-yeti-multifunction/ and one set of these http://www.cars-equipment.com/www/en/shop/steering-wheels-accessories/skoda-steering-wheel-dsg-shift-paddles/ Unless of course you can find 3T0959538F and 3T0951527A cheaper.

Looks the same shape airbag as my 2013 fabia.

Id be tempted for it if it wasnt a 400 mile round trip for me, then to get someone to fit it and wire it for me.

Its not worth the hassle for something im not too fussed about to start with.

It does look like a really nice steering wheel though

According to ETKA the steering wheel and airbag changed on vehicles built from 28 Jan 2013 onwards.

Mine was first registered 30th march 2013 i think.

It would of been built before 28th jan i suppose
