Hi,

 

Just wondered if someone could help, I've got a 2011 fabia vrs and it's done 7000 miles, it's been serviced twice since I got it and it's had the oil and filter changed on both occasions by non skoda garages. Could tell me if I need a major or minor service and whats checked?

Your Service Schedule was, if keeping to it.

 

1st service,  @ 12 months/ 9,400 miles,   'Minor Service',  

So thats done.

 

2nd service, @ 24 months,  

'Major Service'  'Inspection Service', includes changing Pollen Filter.

 

**If it was a non Skoda Dealership that serviced, then the 'Inspection part',

checking the Body for damage etc, may not have been done, you have a Service Stamp,

but not a Skoda/VW Health Check done.***

Depends who serviced it.

 

3rd service @ 36 months, 'Minor Service',

& @ 3 Years Brake Fluid Changed,  & MOT needs doing.

(Maybe you want a new Air Filter, you want it checked,)

 

Before the car is 3 years old & out of Warranty, get any Warranty Work done.

 

Be sure that a ECU Update has been done.

 

Your car is so low mileage, so you need to talk over with a Mechanic/Technician what needs doing.

If you are going to Buy an Extended Warranty for the next Year or 2, 

you need to stick to Recommended Manufacturers Servicing and parts/fluids..

thanks for the reply, would it be worth in doing a major service as the other 2 have only been minor?

If you car is 3 years old, it needs the Brake Fluid Changed,

It needs everything fully Inspected and Checked, 

Steering, Suspension & Brake parts, Pad Wear etc.

 Tyre Walls checked were you can see & on the Other Side you can not..

 

Its not done lots of Miles,

but still Wiper Blades, Brake Pads etc can be as worn or needing replacing as a car thats done

40,000 miles.

 

So just a good Maintenance Inspection before the Warranty Expires & before the MOT.

 

If not at a Skoda Dealership, maybe at a VW One.

Under £200 possibly. £250 ish,  Service, Pollen Filter, Brake Fluid Change.

But i would check who ever is doing it Understands what you want,  

'The Car Properly Serviced & Checked all over'.

 

Not Just Fluids/Filters/Grease & a quick look over, a Proper Check.

 

If keeping the car.

Skoda have a 'Service Plan for car from 3-8 year old.'

It includes 2 Services, Minor & Major when you want them done and 2 MOT's.

It might work out good for you price wise.
