skoda refusing to cover warranty!

Featured Replies

took my 11 plate fabia combi in today for a replacement washer to be replaced on the rear parking sensor and was told that theres 'evidence' that the bumper was removed in previous ownership. contacted the previous owner, previous dealer, and the garage I bought the car from, all confirmed the bumper has never been removed. but the garage I bought the car from confirmed they had a slight respray on the load lip of the bumper as it was covered in scratches. upon this thet quoted me 28p for the washer and said it'd be £62 for an hour of labour to remove the bumper and do the process.

am I being a tight git and thinking this is ridiculous

also whilst im on this subject has anyone had any experience of removing the rear bumper and can shed any light on the ease of the task?

thanks

Is the car still in its warranty period or has that expired? If it's out of warranty I don't think there is much you can do. Why does the washer need replacing? If it's not a major issue I'd leave it or ask an independent garage for a quote.

This is a guide should give you a good idea on how easy it is to remove the bumper. http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/223019-removing-rear-weights-mk2-fabia-vrs-tsi-hatch-guide/  You just need to remember before pulling it all the way off to release the connectors from the sensors.

EDIT I've just noticed you've got an estate which means some of the screws are in different places but the general idea is the same.

That dealer sounds like a right jobs worth.

I think id be writting a nice snotty letter.

Even if it had been removed, so what? Its still a faulty washer, so he should repair the fault under warranty IMO.

He'll only claim the expenses back off SUK wont he? So whats his problem?

Name and shame!!

Exactly - if by removing the bumper (if it has been removed) has caused the fault then the dealer is probably correct but if the bumper hasn't been removed then what's the issue.

If every dealer worked like that then nobody would get anything done under warranty.

"sorry sir, but you've actually driven the vehicle on the road.................."

confirmed they had a slight respray on the load lip of the bumper as it was covered in scratches.

Whats a " Slight " respray, it's either been resprayed or it hasn't.  Sounds like another dealer talking Bo11ocks

Funny I need washers for mine, I have managed to pop the sensors out by climbing underneath and getting my hand up there and unclipping them.

Only a 10 minute job if I recall, I wouldn't be taking the bumper off !Maybe undo and slide forward at a push but no off
