Octavia VRs CV Joint ?

Featured Replies

I took car to a tyre dealer last week as I needed a couple of front tyres that were getting near limit.

Went a walk , came back and mechanic said was there was play in the suspension when he tried to take took tyre off, said it moved slightly and was probably a CV joint needed replacing !

Put new tyre on and said look wheel should stay in situ !

Does that ring true or are they touting for business !

IF it is true and I may be doing them a disservice is it likely to be a CV joint or maybe a bearing ?

He said it is sealed so you have to buy a "kit".

Also does anybody know best source of used or recon parts in UK for Skoda ?

You would tend to feel for play in a cv joint by grabbing the driveshaft. Otherwise its more likely to be a bush or balljoint in one of the other suspension components or the wheel bearing. Most of the time you dont know a cv joint needs replacing until it knocks when cornering. Id get a second opinion if you have any doubts
