Not quite so small brake kit

Featured Replies

I ordered a pair of calipers to do the DaveB tick of upgrading to boxster 986 front brakes. The calipers duly arrived and looked lovely, bright and shiny. They were nicely painted and in good overall condition. They are strikingly big and red which I first thought was a good thing. Trouble is they are rather bigger than the calipers I ordered because they are actually the 996 front calipers 996.351.425/6 rather than the 986 ones I wanted.

I am not sure if these can be fitted sensibly or not - they look great -but would need different discs and carriers and I would assume I would have to say goodbye to 17 inch wheels to accommodate them?

Anyone done this?

I think the can be fitted. Someone was selling a set with 996 calipers a while ago on here. They came with 350 mm discs. Yes I think the smallest wheel you could have would be 18 inch.
