Fitted non canbus HIDs to my pre face lift 08 Octavia VRS and they work fine, no lights on dash. Do i need to code them through VCDS or not?

You wouldn't need to code them:)

I would check the coding. I think there is a chance they could blow on you without proper coding. A number of us vcds owners have helped with this coding and it is very easy. I'm not too far from you in Newport if you can't find anyone closer on the vcds owners map part of the forum.
