Alloy losing pressure.

Featured Replies

Evening all,

One of my spiders seems to be losing pressure fairly fast.

I can't see any obvious things sticking out of the wheel, but could this corrosion be responsible?

It looks pretty shoddy.

Could be the valve or it could be a poor seal on one of the beads.  I had some corrosion on the inner lip of an alloy which caused a slow pressure loss.  Garage popped the tyre, cleaned it up and reinflated it with a liberal application of some white stuff and all was well.

Either is possible. A decent repair place will have a water tank that they can find the air bubbles in, and then take an applicable course of action, which could be as easy as pop and reseat the tyre, change the valve, or might mean a new wheel (worst case).

Yes.

I had this on a Spider alloy before.  The tyre place popped the tyre off, sanded down the inside of the rim where the valve came through and put a new valve on.  It worked a treat and held air perfectly after that.

Cheers guys...

I'll pop the spare on and go find somewhere to see what they can do about it.

One day, I'll have them refurbed.
