GT1749VA

Featured Replies

I've got a genuine Garrett GT1749VA - complete WITH the manifold. Bought from a profesionally dismantler 9 mths ago sold as "2003 VW GOLF MK4 1.9 GT TDI ASZ 130 BHP TURBO - GT1749VA" and never used as my turbo has held fast despite seeming to be a bit noiser over last winter, this just have been just the heavier air as my KKK still going strong!

I've been told by a Turbo rebuilder locally It is serviceable condition, but on the downside is going to need a good decoke refurb before it should be put on a car. Either by turbo rebuilder or if you are more keen do it yourself.

Photos below

Decoke can be followed with guides online

My own turbo is still working hence surplus as I'm not sure I can be bothered with the effort of cleaning, bargain for anyone who is. If no one wants it I may have it hybridised or clean myself.

Price dropped to: £160 collected

Could you post some pics of the turbo please? might be interested in having it off you.

cheers

There is also some other manifold/pipework not shown in the pics.

Its been on the bench at the local turbo rebuilder, they said on basic inspection looks good, however does needs decoke

Looks visually ok, do you know what mileage its done... are all the bolts straight and true, actuator functioning ok etc?

if so deffo interested and will make an offer.

Hi,

I can't make any of those assurances due to my lack of understand of turbos, although this is something I want to learn more about, its a turbo from a very active vehicle dismantler called parts_emp_ltd on ebay bought late last year as my turbo got a bit noisier over winter and I feared the worst prematurely.

I don't know enough about the turbos myself to know about the actuator testing etc.

All I know from the purchase is it was sold as coming from a car broken in running order but not clear on the actual miles its from.

I don't think there is anything bent on it, but I think it would be wise for it to be thoroughly decoked however.

(I've had a quick look at the guide as posted above but actually going through it in depth on the turbo would be the next step).

No problem if you aren't interested, I can still look at cleaning this myself and will be looking for a bit more than this once I'm done (like at least £220 if not more or just keep hold of it for emergency whilst I still have the car).

Where are you located mate?

Bump, last chance if anyone fancies this, at £160 NO OFFERS only because I'm moving house soon and its one more thing to worry about moving !

Spud, are you still after ? Sorry I'm not so attentive with my posts.

I've had a further look and it will need a decoke for sure (so the veins don't stick) - as I removed the actuator and can see the movement is not good due to build up, but I don't think its excessive on play on the turbo itself.

I'm still in too minds about whether to keep it, I'm about ready to go cleaning it and only reason I haven't is I'd rather move house first where I will have more space to work !
