4x4 mpg?

Featured Replies

I ordered a 2.0 tdi 4x4 on Saturday. The only reason I went for the 4x4 was there was nothing else available that I wouldn't have to wait at least 12 weeks for.. After paying the deposit I discovered it was band D £110. Now I found out the 4x4 does 10mpg less. Neither of these facts were explained to me, had they have been I would have given it more thought. Has anybody got the 4x4, if so what mpg would I expect to get? Top gear say 14.5 less which is even more worrying.

Thanks

My wife has a 1.6 tdi 4x4. It's overall consumption is 0.56l pr 10km. That's with alot of short trips and use of the webasto heater during the Winter. It uses a bit more than my 2013 bmw 316dat.

Fast motorway runs gives 46 mpg that's what I have just achieved just now on a run to Inverness, steady runs gives 50 mpg, best I have had so far is 54 mpg.

Engine at nearly 3,000 is still running in and I only use shell v power diesel.

Take a read of this thread:

Only just got mine so can't really comment on fuel consumption yet. Also why did you order a car without even looking at it's details?

Thanks for all the replays. Looks at the average mpg people are getting I feel I can live with it, I was hoping to get up near the 50mpg mark but anything around the 43 will do.

The reason I choose the 4x4 was I was up against the clock and this came up at the last minute, brain was pretty mashed by all the different specs & costs by then. I have got 14 days cooling off but I think I'll stick with it.. Kinder hope we get plenty of snow this winter so I can justify the extra costs.

Looking at fuelly I don't think the 4x4 is tons worse than the regular 150ps, I've only clocked about 200 miles so far and my average is around 45mpg I think. I've read they loosen up over time though so I'm hopeful for 50 - 55mpg once it's bedded in a bit :)

Should need to refuel in a week or so and then I'll have my first set of numbers for fuelly :)
