Nearside mirror not playing ball when reversing

Featured Replies

Operates fine from the drivers door switch.

Rotates out and then down, but stops partway on the down cycle.

Doesn't appear to be 'learning' when I correct it to where I want it.

I'd rather it didn't move at all over doing half a job.

No rhyme nor reason as to why it started.  Might just be a really strong spider sticking a boot in the way.

I suppose die agnostics is the way forward - unless anyone else knows otherwise?

Have you gone through the process in handbook anout the memory for the reverse mirror?

If you dont want it to do it the have the mirror set in the R position as this will disable the nearside mirror's reverse function.

I still can't work out how to get this to work properly - I think that perhaps as they get older the motors are no longer as fast as they were, and so your mirror position doesn't adjust fully under automatic control.  Mine would always seem to drift - indicating the motor is faster in one direction than the other, perhaps.

Nope they are just another VAG pants design. Same on both the cars we have had.

Sometimes more worryingly is when the mirrors don't come back out after they have folded away and you have to take the battery off to reset them!

I fold them every day pretty much and never had that, guess I'm lucky in that respect :)

Okay I give in.  Sorry chaps, but I'm going to go with Bodie's advice and read the.....Handbook....just in case there's a daft bit I'm missing.

Commencing the walk of shame to where the manual is.... :dull:  :rain:

Well I've now followed the manual several times over to the letter, and can confirm that it now doesn't work at all  :dull:

Welcome to frustration city; population - Us!

I have given up on it, and just have the seat memory function disable switch set now which stops it adjusting itself in all mirror switch positions.
