I thought I would de-lurk in a conventional manner, and start here :D

I have belatedly (very belatedly!) decided it's time to stop doing 20,000 miles a year in a 53 reg petrol auto CR-V and give my wallet a rest.  :o  In my defence I didn't realise modern cars were so much more fuel efficient.

I started out looking at second hand cars, but the 0% Skoda and Mazda are doing caught my eye. The Madza 6 Tourer was fairly quickly dismissed, and it very quickly came down to choosing between the Superb and the Octavia. Even though I reckon the Superb would be a slightly nicer place to spend 20,000 miles, the Octavia won out in the end. Now the wait begins...

But at least I haven't ordered a vRS  :D

first of all welcome mate! I know exactly what you mean about newer cars being more fuel efficient. just recently purchased my first skoda octavia vrs 03 and it is amazing to drive and fuel economy to my previous car (MK3 Golf Vr6) is totally different its like the needle never seems to move on the skoda . I think you have picked a good car .

I chose the octavia as i needed more space than the golf as i have 3 kids, but wanted turbo power so i can also have some fun when on my own. there was very litlle to chose from with what i wanted and me being a massive vag fan it had to be the skoda. i love it!

Cheers!

Since I got the air-con fixed on the CR-V I seem to be getting just over 24mpg :o so the prospect of 50+ is an appealing one.
