Octavia Scout 2.0TDI PD MPG

Featured Replies

I am considering replacing my faithfull Mk.1 1,9TDI 130 with a PD Scout, just wondered what mpg figures Scout owners were achieving in the real world, I cover 14K per year of which about 10K is my commute on welsh A roads. Thanks.

I've been getting 46mph(ish), (in my case MaxiDot and Fuelly actually agree.) most of my driving is on the M25, with some town driving thrown in.

I average about 44mpg in my 2.0 PD 4x4. Most of my commute is on dual carriageways.

Mainly short daily commuting (wifes kid carrier), 10 mile round trips, approx. 40-50mph.

I got 61mpg on a very steady drive into work one day but I tend to get around 45-48 most days.

Is that according to the trip computer? If so they are generally in cloud cuckoo land in terms of accuracy.

See my fuelly link in my signature

Its best to get actual figures rather than rely on the computer as unless it has been calibrated properly they tend to be a tad optimistic as i know mine car says 52mpg but actual brim to brim figures is 42mpg for 40-50mph 10mile journey.

In my non-Scout 2.0 litre diesel 4x4 estate I get between 40 and 42 mpg overall, measured properly (from fill-to-fill).

The on-board computer gives a far more optimistic figure.  I have learned to ignore it.

Yep, the car is trying to make you feel better :D

I cover around 15k a year in mine with good mix of roads, whenever I calculate tank to tank fill get 42-44mpg. Computer regularly reads high 40s to low 50s so also ignore this bit of fiction.
