Rubbing Strips

Featured Replies

Just wondering if the bump/rubbing strips along the doors are just stick on or if they have clips (ie holes) to hold hem on as well?

thanx :D

No clips holes, just stick on.

If you want to remove pull them off and you have the fun task of getting the double sided tape residue. A toffee wheel is the best thing for this and what the pro's use but something like tar and glue remover and a good polishing work.

Just remmeber the paint may well be a different colour under the rubbing strips if your car is more than a year or so old.

I used boiling water straight from the kettle to pour onto my rear badges (to heat the glue up) when i removed them yesterday - i'm gonna do the side strips as well as soon as i get the door handles painted (looks cleaner if you see Joshes pics) :)

Pour the water onto the strips and use string to cut through the glue using the sawing method, this wont scratch the paint

Don't remove them anyway. I have so many little marks in the rubbing strips but not a single dent in the door from careless ****s opening their doors into my car. If you take them off, your panels will get dented. Rubbing strips look better than dents IMO

Had mine off for months now, 20 mins with a hairdryer and a rag. No dents from parking as of yet (touch wood) and I much prefer the look.

Hardly any glue left on once you heat them first and any left on was totally gone after a couple of normal washes.

So sure I like it, I cant even remember where I put the strips ;)

Are there no holes in the rear when the v/rs badges are removed ?

Are there no holes in the rear when the v/rs badges are removed ?

no...

but there are 2 in the skoda badge...

i copied off Josh :) - removed all badges then restuck the VRS badge in the centre (where the round badge was) to cover the holes - looks 100% better

:D:thumbup: Not too hard to get off - patience, thats all.
