No reversing lights or sensors

Featured Replies

Hello

There is an old thread out there on this subject but it only had one reply and was posted a couple of years ago so time to start the thread again.

My sensors stopped working a couple of days ago and when I checked I found that the reversing lights were also not working. I've checked the book  but the fuse card explanation doesn't bear much resemblance to the card behind the panel where the fuses live.

The old thread indicated that it might be a sensor in the gearbox. Does anyone have any advanced ideas?

it might not be a fuse, it could be the reverse light switch.

First thing that popped in my head was reverse light switch.

Fuse card is a mirror image of the fusebox, and in addition the image is folded, this is due to RHD vs LHD. Hold the card with side edge touching the fusebox and look at both, one side of the card is mirror image of the top, the other side is a mirror image of the bottom part of the fuse box layout.

I'd check the fuse first. Top middle large fuse (#31) or the small fuse right above it (#7). If both are fine, it's likely the switch.

Another VAG stupidity - just right for an electrical failure on a wet night.

I scanned my fuse card, flipped the image (thanks, Microsoft) and printed the reversed image with the paper trimmed to fit the fuse box cover.

The icons still make sense but of course the numbers are mirror-imaged. I simply edited strategic fuse numbers with a red pen. There are still errors on the fuse card but at least the essential fuses for the lights, etc. can be located.
