Fabia 1 Aerial and base choice

Featured Replies

As a result of rubber aerial cover perishing and water ingress I have to change the radio aerial and base on my 2002 estate.

Is there any technical spec or other details to be careful of when buying these new, and any advice on where and what to buy.

The radio is marked as Grundig MS 402A model and is the original in the car.

In addition is it advisable to put any type of water sealant between the roof and the base when fitting?

Skodaoldy.

I likely have a decent aerial base at home from a car with same ms402 radio. :)

Thanks, but I would need to get more info on possible tech spec first before I can be sure it would be suitable.

If devonutopia says it'll fit mate, you can be pretty confident that it will. He kinda knows his stuffs

I'd looked around eBay for a replacement aerial base, but it turned out getting an original one from my local dealer was around the same price (came with the rubber seal). If you don't end up with devonutopia's one, then your dealer should be able to look up the part number by your reg or VIN.

One thing to bear in mind is that if you end up replacing your head unit at any point, you'll need an aerial adapter to power the amp in the aerial base (few quid on eBay).
