Air-Con

Featured Replies

Hiya all,

5 year old Fabia 1.4mpi, and the air-con has started working intermittantly. How much should this cost to fix ? Is it just a case of re-charging it ?

Ive got an MOT due, and the garage offer a 'free' air con check, but I know its faulty, so just wonder what the likely damage is ?

Cheers.

RBW.

been told its about 400 quid inc labour the sensor is only about 30quid but the dash has to come out:( im dreding the day mine goes, but its all working fine! 5years old to:)

You need to get it on a diagnostic rig as mine went and it was the "Evaporator Temp Sensor" which is 30 quid to replace, but requires about 4 hours labour to remove the dash and fit (although Lummox may be able to do it quicker ;)). If the air con hasn't been regassed in 5 years, then it may just be a simple case of getting it regassed (about 50/60 quid), but prob best to get it checked on the diag machine first to rule out faults in the system :D

My air con is playing up too, so, just in case I have to replace the sensor .....got any tips for replacing it?

I'm thinking location and connectors and best way to approach it.

IIRC from when mine was done, the sensor sits under the dash between the windscreen and the instrument pod. Connector wise I think it's pretty straight forward and just plugs in place.... I'm not sure Ross will want to share his patented 15 minute technique ;)
