Vinyl Wrapped Roof

Featured Replies

Just wondered if anyone else has a vinyl wrapped roof from the factory?

I am told mine came from Skoda like this and the dealer did not have it put on.

I have noticed a few blemishes in the wrap (looks like clouding) and was considering getting it re-done (if I keep the car). There is also a bubble in one of the drainage channels on the passenger side.

Just wondered what peoples thoughts were on this with regards to warranty? Would this be covered?

At the South Central West Meon Hut meet this week none of the guys had seen one vinyl wrapped and thought they should be painted from the factory.

If you paid for the extra (Black roof) option then it should definitely be painted!

Never heard of it coming wrapped from a factory...

You can get them professionally wrapped from around £80-£90 I think.

You might be able to sweet talk them into covering it under warranty but like I said, I've never heard of anyone else have it wrapped from factory.

A lot of dearerships do this, they can make more money and get the car out quicker than sending it to their body shop to be done. We used to do anywhere between 10-20 range rovers evoques a week and same with minis, it's very common.

Little tip, try firstly polishing the roof and see if the blemishes will disappear, if that fails, try going over the areas with some heat, a heat gun works best, full heat, around 6-8 inches away and work over the area in a slow sweeping motion, you will know if its working as they will just disappear.

Any decent company, wrapping for a dealership WILL have used 3m for its 5yr warranty, and the clouding used to happen to us all the time, very simple fix.

Failing that, take the car back and tell them you want it redone under either the vehicle/skoda warranty, or the wrapping company's warranty.

If the vinyl is at fault then the dealer ship will claim from the wrapping company and the wrapping company will claim from 3m, nobody will loose out and it should be a quick turn around.

Hope that helps, professional vinyl wrapper for 6 years. Jon

When buying a Used Skoda where a Dealership has had a Roof Wrapped for a previous Customer,

or a Customer had a Wrap done,

then the Original Skoda Warranty is not covering the Wrap,

& unless the Dealer that sold it used, had the Commissioned the Wrap they have no responsibility for it.

If 'Skoda' say they supplied cars & the one involved with Wrapped Roofs from the Factory then your quids in if there are Problems, but only Manufacturing or Workmanship Problems.

So if not done at the Factory,

unless there is Paper Work, Invoice etc for the Company that did the Wrap, its one of those things.

Car with Wrapped roof has gone off to someone else anyway i think.

It is keeping a low profile for a while - trying to keep off the radar.
