Revo, Shark or somwhere else?

Featured Replies

I'm getting my car remapped very soon but cannot decide where to go for the best results.

The car is a 2010 vRS TDi FL CR170 (try saying that with a mouth full of dry toast!!)

Shark at Mansfield aren't too far away, P-Torque nr Birmingham have done work for me in the past, but my closest (reputable) tuner is Corten-Miller near Skegness who have done a lot of dyno tuning on my previous cars in the past. I've got a bit of allegiance to them but am open to suggestions.

I don't mind travelling but don't fancy going much further than 100 miles of the Humber.

Where do you recommend and why?

Shark gets my vote, the guys at Mansfield are a good bunch. You won't go wrong there.

Shark and Revo, both superb.

I have the Shark stage 1, they also do custom maps and can supply a gadget to communicate with via your obd port to change the map back/reload etc.

The stage 1 is a nice glitch free and well sorted map. Very smooth power delivery. The oilburner really gets up and goes now - ideal for overtakes.

The Diesel map at least has an adaptive element. Smoozsing around or stuck in traffic the response is as "normal", so pootling about is an easy and stress free job. Once you start giving it some, the pedal response is much more lively and vigorous. I was a bit sceptical at first but it works well.

As mentioned, nice people to do business with.

This is something I've been debating. I had chosen to go with Revo due to being a big reputable firm, until I ask around at work (I work for an OEM) and I got a little surprise.

Apparently Revo have been through some troubled times in recent years, bankruptcy, buy outs etc. Apparently they're going through it again atm. So I got put in touch with a ex Revo employee who set up his own company, mainly does VAG stuff.  He seems like a nice chap, answer emails quickly and I've got good feedback from the guy who recommended him. So I'm taking a punt and going with him, prices are MUCH lower than Revo. I'm going to book it in in the next 2 weeks if you want to wait for my feed back.

I'm putting in a petrol VRS.

His website is www.oscarli.com

Any one used him before ?

shark gets my vote, there stage 1 map has transformed my superb

Star performance use oscarli and seem to do good smooth maps.

Not headline grabbing figures more OEM drivability

That's Richard Washbrook, Highly recommended, did the mapping on my old TFSi Octavia Mk2 vRS. Has done a lot of motorsport mapping and development.

He's been running Oscarli for some time now - hasn't been at Revo for a good number of years! I used him in 2009 and the business was well established then.
