  • The vRS estate one goes over the lip... and it looks like the other ones do too.   http://www.rearguards.co.uk/index.php?app=gbu0&ns=prodshow&ref=RBP721 http://www.rearguards.co.uk/index.ph

Rearguards get a good write up. Worth a look.

I had one for my Octy 2 FL estate, and it was fine for a while - it looked good, very OEM.

Ultimately though it lifted up, caught the boot lid on opening and closing, and was more hassle than it was worth.

If you have a dog jumping in and out, they might be worth a look. If you just want to protect the rear bumper - my advice - just be careful lifting things in and out!

i have just ordered 2 bumper protectors from rearguards.co.uk, one for my new vRS and one for the wives yellow Fabia, fingers crossed it will be ok.

I'm a bit confused that they seem to refer to the Mk3 Octavia as the "Octavia IV"...

Yes they do, don't know why, there might of been a facelift and they changed the model number?

I've had a couple of RGM protectors and always found them pretty good. I went for a Skoda one for my Mark 3 as RGM hadn't released their version at that time and as others have said it doesn't actually cover the whole bumper - it stops short of the bumper lip which is likely to be the area that scratches with dogs?

The odd thing is that the Skoda OEM part does not!

I  know I was agreeing with you!

D'oh.  I read your post as saying the RGM one wasn't available and didn't cover the boot lip anyway...

But then I am trying to multitask, which as we all know, blokes just can't do.  :D

I ordered the carbon look one!

Ordered mine today from RGM. A nice carbon look one! Going to collect it when they call. Will post photos once fitted as I've not seen anyone else post any. This is the swatch card they sent me. 9a8u7u9y.jpg

Cheers.

Next question, I'm taking delivery of a metal grey VRs soon. I'm tempted to go for the carbon rearguard, but think it might look daft. Would the black look better?

I have a carbon fiber protector on blue, would you like a picture?

Aye, if you could. The website doesn't show it too well.
